Welcome to Kathleen's blog...
Kathleen and her team bust their buns here to bring you a dose of inspiring, informative and funny stuff you can actually use. Sometimes it will be specific to our show--more insight on a topic or featured guest. Other times it will just be something that grabbed us—a nugget we felt was worthy of your time (or at the very least, a big belly laugh). Enjoy!

Looking for a healthier option? We're giving a big shout out to Classic Creme Cookies by Back to Nature.
They may look like an Oreo, but that's where the similarities stop...eat one and you'll feel like you have died and gone to lip smacking heaven.
And this is also one snack you can rest a little easier about:
- No artificial preservatives, flavors or colors
- No high fructose corn syrup (made with raw sugar which won't jack around your blood sugars as much)
- No hydrogenated oils
We found them at Whole Foods, but you can probably find them at other health conscious stores or order HERE.
How did we find stumble across this delicacy? The cookies were mentioned in the hilarious and best-selling book Skinny Bitch...be sure to listen to Kathleen's upcoming interview with author Rory Freedman.

Last year Kathleen interviewed Lyme disease survivor Chris Erickson about his personal journey with this controversial and often misdiagnosed disease. (Chris had originally been misdiagnosed and treated for over a decade with Parkinson's Disease).
Just this week, CT Attorney General Blumenthal announced a settlement in a landmark antitrust investigation into the Lyme treatment guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).
"My office uncovered undisclosed financial interests held by several of the most powerful IDSA panelists," said Blumenthal. "The IDSA's guideline panel improperly ignored, or minimized, consideration of alternative medical opinion and evidence regarding chronic Lyme disease, potentially raising serious questions about whether the recommendations reflected all relevant science."
Bottom line? If you are experiencing symptoms similar to those for Parkinson's, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritus, or Lupus do not rule out Lyme as a possibility. See below for information to discuss with your phsyician regarding testing, diagnosis, and treatment.

Here's the homeless and hungry hobo I found weaving in and out of heavy traffic at a pit stop in Kentucky. This photo was taken after we pulled 60+ ticks off him and after a few weeks of beefing up (look mom, no ribs showing!).
We love him.

After we had Emily Main of National Geographic's Green Guide on the air, many of you decided it was time to get rid of all of the toxic cleaning supplies in your home. We received many e-mails asking us what is the safest, most environmentally friendly way to dispose of the multiple bottles.
Here's Emily's advice:
"It's usually not a good idea to empty containers down the drain, since such high quantities can cause damage to waterways. The best thing to do is to see if your local household hazardous waste site will take them, and definitely try to get them to take drain openers, toilet cleaners and any other cleaner that may be particularly caustic or acidic. If you've got a powder cleaner, empty that into a plastic bag and recycle the container if you can. Otherwise, it's best just to toss the entire container, contents and all, in the garbage. It may seem irresponsible to throw out a perfectly good recyclable container, but if you empty liquids or gels into the garbage, they may leak out and harm garbage collectors or pose groundwater contamination threats in landfills."
Listen to Emily's interview:
Worried about your kids and pets and all of the crazy chemicals around your house? You should be.

I'm a filmmaker, writer, and talk radio host. After a decade of schlepping drugs for big pharma, I finally got the ovaries to walk away from my career as a pill pusher and share what I knew on the big screen. I wrote and directed the feature film Side Effects (starring Katherine Heigl) as well as...(read full bio)
